PRIVACY STATEMENT

Laika understands the importance of data protection. We respect your privacy in accordance with the Belgian Act of December 8th 1992 on the protection of privacy with regard to the processing of personal data and in accordance with the recent General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The purpose of this statement is to set out clearly and transparently how we process the personal data you provide us with.

Laika is a data processor, which means we keep a record of and update data relating to our public. We only collect data that are relevant to our services.

 

1.     Why do we process personal data?   

We ask you for and collect the personal data received direct from you for the following purposes and in compliance with the law:  

-        to send newsletters and invitations which keep you abreast of and promote our activities;

-        to enable you to take part in activities which Laika itself is responsible for organizing, such as try-outs in our own space, projects, etc.;

-        to obtain government subsidies.   

For the above purposes, we can ask you to provide the following personal data:

-        personal details: first name, surname, email address, postal address, telephone number  

-        personal characteristics: age, nationality, language.

We use the data we have collected for the purposes for which we received that data.   

2.     Distribution to third parties

If it is necessary for the aforementioned purposes, we can pass on to third parties the data you have provided us with.   

We use a third party to:  

-        manage the internet environment (webhosting) and to host the databank in which these data are stored;

-        manage the IT infrastructure;

-        dispatch newsletters and invitations;

-        sell tickets on our behalf by authorized ticket sellers, by locations where our events are held and by artists we promote.  

We never pass on personal data to other parties with whom we do not have a processer’s agreement. As you would expect, we draw up the necessary agreements with our processors to safeguard your personal data.   

We do not pass on your data to third parties other than those mentioned above, unless this is mandatory by law or we have permission to do so.

We can share personal data with third parties if you give us permission to do so. You have the right to withdraw this permission at any time.

3.     Use of cookies

Cookies are used to collect statistical information (page requests, visits, visitor, etc.).  Laika’s site uses Google Analytics to track this information.

If you do not wish to receive cookies, you can modify your browser so that it notifies you when cookies are sent to it. Moreover, you can delete cookies from your hard drive at any time. You can also block cookies through your internet browser settings.  

4.     Protection of data

Laika takes all appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against accidental loss, destruction or damage, unlawful access, wilful alterations, etc.

5.     Storage time limit 

Laika does not store personal data longer than necessary for the purpose for which that data was provided, unless retention is required on legal grounds. If you have subscribed to our newsletter, we keep your data until you cancel your subscription. You can unsubscribe at any time via our newsletter module or use one of the other channels to inform us that you want your data removed.    

6.     Your rights regarding your data

You have the right to inspect and correct or remove the personal data we received from you. You can also object to your personal data (or a part of it) being processed by us or by one of our processors.   

You have the right to instruct us to transfer your data either to you or direct to another party. We may ask you to prove your identity before we can comply with the aforementioned requests.

7.     Complaints

Should you have a complaint about the processing of your personal data, kindly contact us direct. This does not detract from your right to submit a complaint to the Privacy Committee, the supervisory authority for the protection of privacy.   

8.     Changes to privacy statement

Laika has the right to alter its privacy statement. Any changes will be announced on our website.
