Nori is a researcher and knows everything there is to know about the sea. About the creatures drifting in its dark depths. About Noctiluca scintillans, which lights up in the spring giving the water a bluey-green glow. About the ‘primordial soup’ from which all life originated, but which is acidifying and turning into a plastic soup. She shares her love for the sea and her concerns about it with Dulse, beachcomber, amateur chef and Nori’s loyal companion.
In SEAWEED Nori and Dulse urge us to protect and nurture the sea. They tell of the wondrous world of seaweed, and Dulse learns how to cook with it. Working with the audience, they cut, chop, steam and roast it and come up with a delicious snack.
Sample the delicacies the sea has to offer, savour unfamiliar tastes and contribute to a world where is it good to live!
Directed at the youngest generation, SEAWEED is a further expression of our fascination with the food of the future. It is part of our search for a sustainable way of cooking that makes for a better world. It is, after all, children who will inhabit tomorrow’s world, so they should have a say in that world.
