You’re twelve years old. Your body is changing and everything seems different to you. You want lots of things, but you don’t know exactly what you want. You feel you can take on the whole world but you also feel small sometimes. You want to rush ahead at breakneck speed but your feet won’t cooperate.
Sleeping bee is a monologue for two actresses. They represent a girl just before and right in the middle of puberty, like twins destined to live together. They engage in an endearing, funny and sometimes painful mock fight. Sleeping beeis an evocative and exuberant portrayal of a young girl in search of her identity and her place in the world.
Sleeping bee is Karen Claes’s first production for a young audience. She studied at the Maastricht Toneelacademie and to date has mainly directed in the Netherlands.
