The exact year isn’t important: let’s just call it the future.
He wants something.
To kiss and cuddle. A girl. A real girl? To fall in love, have butterflies in his stomach. True Love, the real deal, if at all possible.
He orders her; the A8128. And she comes.
End of story? Well, no. Someone else comes too. The girl next door. Definitely not a prototype. Definitely not a robot. Definitely not the ideal girl for him.
My Robot is a Lover presents a dilemma: do we choose a calculated love life, free of inconveniences, risks and heartache? Or do we take love as it is - intangible, inexplicable, indescribable?
Marjet Moorman created this show – about love in a digitized world – as part of her Master’s degree course at Maastricht Academy of Performing Arts. She developed the project at Laika’s request and under its wings.
