The Spanish artist José Antonio Portillo developed a unique vision on the relationship between pictures and words and how to teach children to use them.

Artilugios para contar y crear historias is a collection of curious book objects. Each of these objects is an open invitation to make up stories and share them with others.

Laika discovered Portillo and his world at the Percursos Festival in Portugal, where Laika was a regular guest for three years running. Laika invited José Antonio Portillo to come to Flanders. The project received the support of the Limburg cultural centres and HETPALEIS, who are making their spaces available for Portillo and his show.
